Please pray

Our Story

When we went to the emergency room June 4th, 2012 to treat Steven's migraine, the last thing we thought would hear would be he had lung cancer.

They had heard him cough and decided to do a chest x-ray, a test he had had just 2 months prior. What they found was pneumonia caused by a large mass pressing against his bronchial tube.

He was immediately admitted and scheduled for a biopsy the next day. We were told it would be 3-4 days until they knew the results, but the surgeon who saw us after the procedure said he could tell it was cancer. From there more tests would show that it was in his liver.

This was a fast growing, aggressive cancer that responds well to chemo but will roar it's ugly head again. It is incurable and said to have a life expectancy of about 1 year. Of course nothing is bigger than God, so we will prayed for a miracle and treasured each day we had.

Steven passed away July 20, 2013. The cancer may have been what he died from, but it did not win, because he fought to live until there was no more fight. I don't know anyone with more will and determination than Steven. He inspired so many. And my walk as caregiver is a testament of my love. This is our story.
